Gary Neville, the former captain of Manchester United, has recently been carrying out freelance ambassador duties for the club, shortly after the announcement that Sir Alex Ferguson’s full-time ambassador contract is nearing its conclusion. Ferguson, who guided the club to a Treble victory, had a lucrative deal worth millions annually in acknowledgment of his achievements.
However, since becoming a part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been enforcing cost-cutting strategies, which includes terminating this expensive contract. Other former United players also hold various ambassadorial positions with differing responsibilities.
