Following their pairing in the Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinals, Kaizer Chiefs supporters have sent a strong warning to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns secured their place in the following round of the league after defeating Golden Arrows 5-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, while the Soweto giants advanced to the quarterfinals after crushing SuperSport United 4-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
However, following their contentious 2-1 loss to Sundowns in last month’s league match, Amakhosi supporters still appear hurt.
Iqraam Rayners of Sundowns scored in that match when Lucas Ribeiro, who seemed to have been offside, passed the ball to him.
In the last moments of the match, defender Inácio Miguel was judged to have committed a foul in the box before scoring past Ronwen Williams, depriving Amakhosi of another goal.
Some Amakhosi supporters were upset about the rulings, and they tried to exit the field after the game by throwing objects at the match officials.
The PSL ultimately penalized the Soweto giants R150,000 for “spectator misbehavior,” but Abdul Ebrahim, Safa’s head of referees, backed the match officials.
After it was confirmed that the two sides will play each other again, Kaizer Chiefs supporters took to X to warn Sundowns.
