Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering effective governance to the general populace, not just a select group of persons who see themselves as influential.
Shortly after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the governor briefed State House Correspondents.
According to Alia, he was at the State House to update the President on Benue State’s problems, particularly the ecological and security conditions there.
The impoverished masses, who elected him to serve them rather than those who consider themselves to be state power brokers, are the foundation of democracy, according to the clergyman-turned-politician.
He added that his administration is working to empower Benue State residents, especially the younger generation.
According to the governor, more than 10,000 young people are receiving training in digital skills, and some of them are receiving state government sponsorship to study in China.
I work for the people. I have no idea who the influential people are. I take the masses seriously because I believe that we must be sitting here with our consciences. The secret is to be a servant leader. I know where it pains them the most because I’ve been there. They ought to be lenient toward the impoverished masses and themselves.
To make sure that our youngsters are empowered and gain power, we have sent a few young people to China to gain skills. We have no justification for experiencing food insecurity. The insecurity that impacted certain LGAs caused us to stall down, but we have since accelerated. Next week, we will hire 9,700 qualified educators to work in our education sector,” Governor Alia revealed.
Speaking on Benue State’s security status, he stated that while there are occasional clashes in three local governments, overall calm is being enjoyed in all 23 local government areas.
