- Governor Hyacinth Alia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand Benue’s digital infrastructure in an effort to fulfill
the Benue State Government’s vision of becoming a truly digital state that will empower the people, create opportunities, and lay the foundation for long-term economic growth.
“This is aimed at expanding digital infrastructure in the state, through the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC),” stated Governor Alia at the signing ceremony with EVNT Technologies, a prominent information technology (IT) and solutions provider based in Saudi Arabia.
Governor Alia referred to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding as a “step towards making Benue a truly digital environment” during Friday’s historic event at the 2024 GITEX Global Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“This collaboration with EVNT Technologies is essential to achieving our goal of a Benue that is fully digital. Its goals are to empower our people, create opportunities, and establish the framework for long-term economic prosperity.
Benue will become a paradigm for digital transformation in Nigeria and beyond, according to EVNT Technologies chairman Hamad Al Saleh, who also pledged the company’s willingness to offer technology skills to the state.
We can’t wait to share our knowledge with Benue. By working together, we can establish Benue as a leader in digital transformation both within and outside of Nigeria.
The collaboration equally focuses on digital application development, skills training and capacity building, and digital policy formulation and strategy in addition to infrastructure development. With both sides committed to making significant progress, the partnership’s implementation is anticipated to start in 90 days.
The governor was joined by Terwase Gbande, the managing director and chief executive officer of Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC), Hon. Kwaghgba Amande, the honorable commissioner for communications, technology, and the digital economy, and Angula Bishop Reuben, the governor’s principal special assistant (PSA) for ICT and new media.
