Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, claims that God instructed him not to run for office in 2027. Speaking yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, Ortom welcomed members of the Peoples Democracy Party’s (PDP) G-14, who were accompanied by Dr. Laha Dzever, the party’s chairman. Among the G-14 members that accompanied Dr. Dzever were Senators Abba Moro and Gabriel Suswam.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), G-14 members are PDP elders in Benue State’s 14 Tiv-speaking local government districts. According to the former governor, he had no other option but to honor God’s will.
“I’m not running in the 2027 election,” he declared. I understood why I didn’t win the 2023 election. I didn’t ask God. I accepted the forms that my people had bought for me without seeking God’s approval.
Everything has been made clear to me by God. He has requested that I wait for him. Ortom claimed that throughout his time as governor of Benue State, he made many sacrifices, including leaving behind his friends and family at one point to focus on state affairs.
