TCN’s substations receiving power: 90 percent of the TCN receiving bulk power supply, the company said. This is in regards to attempts to repair the grid that collapsed again on Tuesday.
TCN’s SUBSTATIONS RECEIVING POWER
“Supply has returned to Abuja”, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, announced in a press release.
At roughly 6:18 p.m. on Monday, the grid failed, leaving many people in the dark.
The decrease of power generation was from 3.87 gigawatts at 5 p.m. to 3.56 GW at 6 p.m. It later moved to 0.00 GW at 7 and 8 p.m., according to checks conducted by our correspondent.
There was a protest by the Federal Capital Territory electricity users in response to the frequent system failures, calling them a national disgrace. The gearbox company has promised to resolve the problem, though.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria therefore reports that on Monday, October 14, 2024, at approximately 6:48 p.m., there was a partial disturbance to the national grid. The announcement further notes that work are still underway to fully recover the grid.

HOW AZURA POWER SUPPLY INTERVENED
Even though the Azura Power Station provided the blackstart for the grid’s recovery, it only reached an advanced stage at around 10.24 am today when it ran into a problem that slightly hampered its progress.
“Despite the minor setback, TCN persisted in the grid recovery process. This process advanced to the point where TCN’s substations receiving power, nearly 90% of its substations nationwide have bulk power availability.”
In the statement, the Abuja axis and other significant distribution load centres across the country are once again receiving supplies.
The Abuja axis and other significant distribution load centres across the country are once again stocked.
GAS STATION NOT AFFECTED BY THE BLACKOUT
“The partial disruption during that period had no effect on the Ibom Gas producing station, which was cut off from the grid yesterday and continued to serve 132kV transmission substations in Itu, Uyo, Eket, and Ekim in the country’s South Southern area.
“Once the grid is fully restored, an investigation into the cause of the incident will be conducted.”
