After Bronny James was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2024 draft, an ex-NBA champion has blasted LeBron James, claiming the player lied about how early he saw his son’s potential. The renowned basketball player, LeBron James, is respected by many, including Jeff Teague, who won a ring in 2021 and was an All-Star in 2015. However, Teague believes that LeBron went too far in his assertion that he knew Bronny would succeed from the age of five.
Teague wasn’t too happy with LeBron’s remarks, which he had made at the Lakers’ media day in front of the 2024–2025 NBA season, in which he and Bronny plan to make NBA history as the first father–son team. Teague declared, “I f**k with LeBron,” on the Club 520 podcast. “I f**k this entire moment.” The only thing, though, that I didn’t feel was what he stated when Bronny was perhaps five years old. “He thought, ‘Yes, he’s heading to the league,’ after seeing the guy. like halt. I adore your entire family, but especially you two, but bro.”
Supporters stand up for LeBron
Following a spell at the USC Trojans in the NCAA, where he overcame a cardiac arrest to make his collegiate basketball debut around five months later, the 20-year-old Bronny was selected with the 55th overall choice in the draft. After that, in April 2024, he declared for the draft. He was considered a four-star recruit and received special recognition for his defensive play and work ethic. However, his offensive output was lacking, averaging 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 4.8 points per game in 19.3 minutes of action.
Even if LeBron may have exaggerated the extent to which his son was detected by talent ID, fans have nevertheless rallied around him, urging Teague to ease up a little. A social media user wrote: “Dudes hating bc Lebron felt his son had the ability to make the league by his skills at an early age. … yep haters will look 4 anything negative .. nothing new here folks.”
Another added, “Its lebrons son he knew he was going to the league in the delivery room.” Another replied, “I do believe that lebron be cappin but thinking your son is going to the league is the most believable s**t ever.”
