McIntyre exchanged blows, with the Scotsman needing sixteen staples to seal his wound after being struck in the head with a toolbox.It’s reasonable to say that the WWE was a little alarmed by the quantity of blood McIntyre spilled, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer clarified that because the gash on his head was not stopping to flow, people at ringside and backstage were understandably terrified. Though WWE had positioned the match as the most horrific spectacle in the company, they decided against this concept. There were discussions of maybe having a doctor inside the cell to check on McIntyre and clean the blood away with a towel.McIntyre hasn’t been on WWE TV since his match with Punk, but this is mostly because he wants to emphasize how serious the cell match was rather than because he is seriously injured. Following his appearance on this week’s “Raw,” during which he discussed his own battle wounds, Punk is apparently taking a break from WWE.
