NILE Announce New Album The Underworld Awaits Us All, Unleash Lead Single: Stream
The 10th album from the death metal vets arrives August 23rd
NILE have announced their 10th studio album, The Underworld Awaits Us All, arriving August 23rd via Napalm Records. The LP marks their first full-length effort in five years.
The South Carolina death metal vets also offered up the lead single, the title of which we’ll put here verbatim: “Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes.”
It’s a vicious number with frenzied percussion, whiplashing stop-starts, and classic thrash riffs that have a hint of late ’80s Sepultura. True to the band’s Egyptian concept, the video sees the band playing amidst a sandstorm at the pyramids thanks to some effective green-screen captures.
“’Chapter for not being Hung Upside Down’ is one of our favorite tracks on the new record,” stated singer-guitarist Karl Sanders. “It’s a lot of fun to play, challenging and unpredictable, but with an infectiously brutal, unrestrained vibe that I am very certain will be a blast in the mosh pit during live shows.”
Regarding the video, Sanders added: “We are super happy to be working with Tom Flynn for the video for this song — he is a visionary with insanely creative ideas and a really cool guy to work with. Very excited for people to see what he has been cooking up with this video.”
NILE’s many hardcore fans will be pleased to know that the band’s trademark Egyptology-inspired concepts are as direct and pertinent as ever on The Underworld Awaits Us All and — per Napalm Records’ press release — driven by “the planet’s inevitable end.”
“We are very happy to be sharing with fans NILE’s 10th album,” Sanders said. “We worked overtime making this record as killer as we could — because we sincerely felt fans deserved our best efforts. The Underworld Awaits Us All — and we will see you there.”
