Florida Gators: Florida Loses One Of Their Star Players For The Season With A Torn ACL
Florida’s 2024 season didn’t start well when Miami came into their home and beat them 41-17. The game seemed to be over from the start, and Miami quarterback Cam Ward put on a show, making the Gator’s defense look like one of the worst in the sport.
The offense already lost Mertz for some time, and they also added another injury, but this one is way worse because the player will miss the rest of the season.
Florida Loses Offensive Player For The Season
According to On3.com’s Keith Niebur, Gators receiver Kahleil Jackson will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
Niebur stated ” Kahleil Jackson will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining an ACL injury. Jackson, a redshirt junior, had surgery Friday. It is believed the injury occurred this week in practice.
“He’s okay — doing well,” said Jackson’s father, legendary Gators receiver Willie Jackson. “We had to get (the surgery) done to try to get back next season.”
Jackson had one catch for 13 yards in Florida’s 41-17 season–opening loss to Miami. Last season, he recorded 21 receptions for 251 yards and one touchdown.”
Florida is already struggling on offense, and losing Jackson for the season is something the team couldn’t afford.
Head coach Billy Napier is set to be on the hot seat, and many fans are calling for his job. Florida’s schedule is only going to get harder.
The Gators have one of the hardest schedules in college football this season, and there is a chance Florida won’t win more than three games. With them losing Mertz for the time being and Jackson for the season, the program could take another turn for the worse.
