SPRINT Season 2 features return of Noah Lyles, absence of Sha’Carri Richardson as Paris Olympic medallists headline NETFLIX series

Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles will lead a hos of Paris 2024 medallists such as Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, and Kishane Thompson for Season 2 of the popular NETFLIX series SPRINT, but notably missing is track star Sha’Carri Richardson.
Season 1 premiered in July 2024, and followed some of the top sprinters in the world through the 2023 season, culminating at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
With the second season announced before the series premiered, the production team has been filming ever since at Diamond League meets and national championships before capturing all of the action at the Paris Olympics.
NETFLIX has announced that SPRINT season 2 will be released on November 13, 2024.
Surprisingly missing from the list is world 100m champion Richardson, who won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. The American speed queen has been unarguably the face of women’s sprinting since winning in Budapest last year and was a major feature in season 1, where a whole episode was dedicated to her world title victory.
Also, Jamaican legends Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah are omitted despite featuring in the debut season.
Although Thompson-Herah didn’t compete in Paris due to sustaining an injury a few weeks before the start of the Games, Fraser-Pryce was present and reached the 100m semifinals before withdrawing due to a hamstring injury.
Unfortunately, in the hours leading up to the race, videos surfaced on social media of the three-time Olympic gold medalist not being allowed into the warmup track area because she was not on the team bus.
Paris was set to be Fraser-Pryce’s final Olympics – she was trying to become the first Olympian to medal in the 100m at five consecutive Games. (In fact, Richardson is the only 100m Olympic finalist featured from Season 1).
