Only one month has passed since the celebrations surrounding Celtic’s double trophy victory at Hampden, but the team’s summer break is officially over.
The players and coaching staff have all enjoyed their vacations around the globe, though it’s unlikely that Brendan Rodgers’ phone has stopped ringing since that historic full-time loss to Rangers.
For fans, the past few weeks have been extremely quiet; there are no signs of an impending deal, and many of the team’s heroes began returning to the Lennoxtown training base on Thursday. Those who were involved in international duty are expected to return over the following week.
It won’t even be long until we see a team return to action. The preseason friendly kick off on Friday night away to Ayr United, where thousands of Celtic fans are anticipated to support the squad at Somerset Park.

What most people are waiting for, though, is transfer activity. With Paulo Bernardo in limbo at Benfica, Adam Idah returning to Norwich City following his loan, and Joe Hart retiring, a few positions need to be upgraded or strengthened. And that’s just to maintain numbers.
Assistant manager John Kennedy indicated in a media interview yesterday that the club are working feverishly behind the scenes on deals but after a sluggish 2023 window, fans will be keenly watching for signs of activity in the early stages of the summer.
