Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, has backed Tottenham and Southampton to agree on a player-plus-cash deal involving Joe Rodon and Carlos Alcaraz.
The ex-Spurs scout believes Rodon’s time in North London is over, and the defender will be eager to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon on June 23, Tottenham and Southampton are trying to agree on a swap deal involving Rodon and Alcaraz.
Given that the Saints value Alcaraz at around £30 million and Rodon is valued at £10 million, Tottenham may need to include some cash in order to complete the deal.
Rodon’s tenure at Tottenham appears to be coming to an end, King stated.
The Spurs have better choices and have spent a lot of money on the position where he plays. He has no future with the club at this point in time.
This agreement, in my opinion, will benefit all sides. Spurs will want to add some much-needed squad depth, and Rodon will want to play football with the first team.
I could imagine this agreement going through since it looks realistic.
Carlos Alcaraz, a midfielder for Southampton, will he help Tottenham?
Even though Alcaraz might not be a player who has the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd jumping for joy, this could turn out to be a wise move.
Rodon is no longer needed, and Spurs need to add some depth to their midfield.
Thus, trading the Wales international and some cash for the still-young Alcaraz might end up being a wise decision in the long run.
The Argentinian has a lot of time to grow, and Ange Postecoglou could be able to assist him in doing so.
In other Tottenham news, the team is planning to offer a Premier League striker £40 million.
