As things stand, Newcastle United is set to bring in a much-needed striker. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an England striker, is the subject of ongoing negotiations between Newcastle and Everton.
The goal is to finalize the transaction by the end of the month. Everton is reportedly asking £37 million.
The Times reports that Everton will be pressuring for a speedy sale in order to get the money in before the PSR deadline on June 30. Although everything appears to be going smoothly in terms of a clean run at Calvert-Lewin at the moment, one journalist has stated that may not continue to be the case.
Newcastle supporters will become weary of seeing Chelsea’s name.
Paul Brown, a freelance journalist, stated on X that he thinks Chelsea would sabotage Newcastle’s attempt to sign the 27-year-old. Talks about Calvert-Lewin in Newcastle have been ongoing for a while.
A few weeks ago, I reported about their interest in and assurance of signing him. However, Chelsea should also be kept an eye on. Though I haven’t pursued it further yet, I’m intrigued. For Everton, a sale before June 30 makes sense.”
This summer, Chelsea has previously moved quickly to get Tosin Adarabioyo from Newcastle when it seemed like he was bound for the Toon.
At every transfer rumor, Chelsea and Newcastle have been together.
It seems like Chelsea has been linked to almost every player Newcastle has been linked to this summer; it’s as if they have discovered our scouting reports and are just following them without any original thought.
We’re not sure where Dominic Calvert-Lewin fits in at Chelsea, and we don’t think this rumor has much merit, but since they are skilled at it, we wouldn’t be shocked if they did end up taking advantage of the situation.
Exactly how many players does a club need? Although I’m still not convinced about the DCL relocation, this may have changed my mind. A shit job on Chelsea.
