The Boston Celtics had to overcome many obstacles in order to reach their goal of becoming NBA champions.

It had been sixteen years since they had won the title, and they had just recently lost it.

In light of this, Jayson Tatum praised Dominican player Al Horford on Instagram, even going so far as to argue that he should be inducted into the Hall of Fame (via Daniel Donabedian).

It’s not impossible to believe that Horford will win the title, as he has made significant contributions to two NCAA championships, five All-Star teams, and now an NBA champion.

Horford’s influence has always extended beyond the stat sheet, and it’s amazing how he’s persevered against the passage of time to remain relevant.

Even at his age, he is a superb defender who risks his life every time the ball is in play.

His offensive approach was modified to fit the needs of modern basketball by extending his range, and he has a higher basketball IQ and playmaking ability than most power players.

One of the most well-liked characters in any locker room in the NBA, Horford does whatever it takes to win basketball games.

After all is said and done, it wouldn’t be absurd to imagine that the Celtics could hang his No. 42 jersey in the rafters. It’s unclear, though, whether it will be enough to get him into the Hall of Fame.
