As rumors about Mike Maignan moving to Manchester City continue to emerge, Milan appears to be getting ready for life without the Frenchman.Journalist Daniele Longo of Calciomercato reports that the Italians have started negotiations with Nice regarding Marcin Bulka, the goalkeeper from Poland.
Since moving from Lille to Milan in 2021, Maignan has grown to become one of the most highly regarded stoppers in Europe. The 28-year-old’s San Siro contract is still in effect for another two years. He might, however, depart from the club this summer.
Milan is unable to pay Maignan what he is demanding in salary, despite their sincere desire to sign their first team mainstay to a new contract. Furthermore, the France international is viewed by Pep Guardiola as the perfect Ederson substitute. This summer, the Brazilian might leave the Etihad Stadium.
Ederson has drawn interest from a number of Saudi Pro League teams. Despite being only thirty years old, the former Benfica player may decide to leave the team after seven years in order to relocate to the Middle East. Milan might also incur the cost.
Maignan’s replacement would not be easy. Stefano Pioli and Olivier Giroud pleaded with Milan to do everything in their power to hang onto their standout goalie during their parting remarks.
Regretfully, Maignan’s tenure at Milan would most likely come to an end if Man City made a move. It would be difficult to find a goaltender of his caliber to take his place. But the wheels have already started turning.
Bulka’s camp has been reached by Geoffrey Moncada in an exploratory manner. The Milan CEO is interested in knowing if the acquisition can be completed.
