Maddison sparks Spurs transfer frenzy with ‘cryptic’ message to England teammate
Tottenham transfer news as James Maddison leaves Spurs fans hoping for more after being pictured with a possible summer targer
James Maddison has left Tottenham fans excited after being photoed with Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. The pair are linking up together again for England as Gareth Southgate’s squad prepare for Euro 2024.
As they compete to make the final 26-man squad for the tournament in Germany during June and July the attacking midfield duo have spent some time together, seemingly to the jubilation of Spurs fans. Heading into their second summer under Ange Postecoglou, Eze has been linked with a move to north London.
Thanks in part to his 11 goals and four assists for Palace, Eze has become one of the standout players away from the top six. As Spurs look to bolster their squad and Eze prepares for a possible step up, Maddison’s latest social media activity has fans talking.
Taking to Instagram during the first few days of the England camp, Maddison posted an image of himself next to Eze. He simply wrote out the username handle (@eze) and two emojis.
However, the use of the prayer hands emoji next to a face of hearts has generated intrigue. Often used when people are wishing for something, online supporters have taken it to mean he is hoping for Eze to join on a transfer.
One user on X/Twitter user said, “Lining up together next season at Spurs?” alongside the image, whilst others simply made good use of the eyeball emojis. Somone else added, “Eze’s relationship with Spurs players is literally like he’s our academy graduate If he comes Maddison is going to have a real run for his money”.
Another account added the hashtag “noticing” along wth the picture. They added, “im leaning towards when [Eze signs] rather than if but prove us wrong levy pls [fingers crossed and crying face emojis]”.
