Robinson was named Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year after averaging a team-high 14.2 points as a senior this season while shooting 35.4% from 3-point range and 90.8% from the free throw line. Robinson played for Pope for the Cougars the previous two seasons. The 6-foot-7 guard scored a career-high 28 points in a victory over Denver; in the Cougars’ NCAA Tournament loss to Duquesne, he scored 25 points on five made three-pointers; and in an unexpected victory against No. 7 Kansas, he scored 18 points.
According to 247Sports, Robinson is the 36th best transfer available in the transfer site for the 2024 cycle.
While Robinson has been linked to returning to BYU and Kansas, Sarah Todd, the Desert News’s NBA and Utah Jazz reporter, recently revealed that Kentucky is Robinson’s most likely destination if he does go back to school.
Although nobody thinks Robinson could sign with a school other than Kentucky or BYU, everyone seems to agree on what would happen should he decide to return to college, according to Todd. “Multiple sources close to the situation told the Deseret News that if Robinson decides to withdraw from the draft, they fully expect him to be playing for Kentucky next season.”
Todd says that Pope and Robinson have stayed in frequent contact during the process, even though Pope spent some time in Chicago earlier this month scouting Robinson and others at the NBA Draft Combine.
According to Jackson, he speaks with Mark Pope almost daily and does so on a fairly regular basis. He’s been approached by Mark Pope before, and he’s been very respectful about it, but it’s clear that he is aware of Pope’s desire for him,” Todd added. “I don’t believe it will be founded on NIL funds or anything like, obtained in that manner. This, in my opinion, will depend on what he believes to be his best opportunities. Aside from that, familiarity will determine whether he decides to return to the university ranks.”
To complete its 2024–25 roster, Kentucky has been attracting Robinson in addition to Miami transfer Wooga Poplar, who has not yet declared his choice regarding the NBA Draft.
