Unusual remarks made by former Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis.
Joe is still a little uneasy about starting opposite Jamel Dean at the corner. Davis was a solid cornerback, but Joe isn’t convinced. Zyon McCollum is a suitable substitute.
That does not imply that McCollum cannot or will not be. Simply put, Joe doesn’t believe he’s there yet. A little too erratic for Joe’s taste. And trust me, Joe, McCollum will be put to the test if Dean is on the field.
Therefore, when the Bucs traded Davis to Detroit this spring, Joe is unsure if Davis was simply playing to the fans or not. But Davis stated he is more eager to play for the Lions than he has been since, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
I think the ensemble is fantastic,” Davis remarked. Extremely happy with the staff, the coaches, and the setting.
We haven’t been this ecstatic since our Super Bowl victory in 2020. This squad is filled with incredible skill. a very competitive setting. And it’s been excellent thus far.
When Bucs general manager Jason Licht, who loves AC/DC, brought back every member of the 2020 Super Bowl champions, starting with 22+1, did Davis not get enthusiastic about 2021?
Wasn’t as thrilled about facing the Lions and getting revenge on Detroit for a prior defeat in order to get to the NFC championship game?
Davis is a clever man. He always answered Joe’s queries with consideration. So Joe doesn’t know if David had become tired or disinterested in the Bucs, or if he was just trying to hype up his team?
