According to rumors, Bayern Munich and Burnley have agreed on a compensation price of £10.2 million for Vincent Kompany to take over as manager.
After Thomas Tuchel’s departure from the Allianz Arena in the summer was revealed in February, the German powerhouses have been frustrated in their search for a replacement.
Tuchel was unable to leave with a trophy, and discussions about him possibly staying on broke down. Kompany appears to have been chosen by Bayern to be their new manager.
On the last day of the season, Bayern lost 4-2 against Hoffenheim, which meant that Tuchel’s goodbye ended badly. As a result, they finished the Bundesliga season in third place.
Bayern seems to have shifted their attention to Clarets chief Kompany, even if he hasn’t been able to stop the club from getting relegated from the Premier League this season, after failing in their bids to sign Austrian boss Ralf Rangnick and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.
The former Manchester City defender signed a deal with Burnley in 2022 and is expected to stay there until 2028. He started his management career in Belgium with Anderlecht.
After the Clarets won the Sky Bet Championship with 101 points in the 2022–2023 season, he guided them to promotion. But in the Premier League, things were different.
With just five victories in 38 games, Burnley’s relegation from the top division was officially confirmed on May 12 against Tottenham.
