Over the past three seasons, the Pittsburgh Steelers have placed a lot of reliance on Najee Harris. During that time, the former first-round pick has 834 carries for 3,269 yards and 22 touchdowns. Additionally, Harris is losing weight in preparation for a contract year so that he can move more quickly.
Josh Scott, the trainer for Harris, told Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that No. 22 is currently weighing around 235 pounds, which is roughly seven pounds less than he did in 2023. Scott stated, “To put it mildly, he’s motivated.”
He added that Harris has been worrying over his diet and losing weight, eating considerably cleaner.
Harris’ fifth-year option was rejected by the Steelers before the deadline on May 2nd. That doesn’t imply, though, that Harris’ time in a Steelers uniform will end in 2024. It does, however, indicate that if the Steelers decide not to apply the franchise tag to him after this season, he will be exploring his options in free agency.
