Stuttgart’s right-back Bouna Sarr said goodbye to the supporters during Sunday’s season-opening home game against Wolfsburg and gave more details on his stay in Bavaria this week in remarks to Bild.

“I’m honored to have spent four years as a member of this fantastic team and the FC Bayern family. I want to express my gratitude to the amazing supporters and the entire club for their support. Best wishes for the future to FC Bayern. During his time at Bayern, the 32-year-old Senegalese right-back struggled to get playing time but never gave up. Of course, I always tried my hardest, and I would have like to play more.

However, I had a few injuries, so it wasn’t always simple for me,” Sarr said to Bild (also via @iMiaSanMia). “Our rehab coach, Simon Martinello, was really significant. During my recovery, I was with him a lot. I owe Simon a great deal of gratitude for all of his support.

“Everyone on the crew was very helpful. They have always been there for me and are like a large family. I can only express my gratitude to everyone at Bayern, and I will always cherish my time there. For this lovely farewell as well.

Although it doesn’t always work out for players, the former Marseille standout gave it his all in a right-back group that grew increasingly crowded over time. And the club did him the honor of bidding him farewell in style.
