Some quarters have speculated that teams may target Bronny James in an attempt to lure his father, LeBron James, away from the Los Angeles Lakers and onto their squad. At least one recent report suggests that this strategy might not work.

Shams Charania of The Athletic said that James would not be willing to leave the Lakers to play for another team only to play with Bronny during an appearance on the “Up & Adams” show on Friday.

In the upcoming weeks, it wouldn’t surprise me if a team did get in touch with Rich Paul, Bronny James’ entourage, or even LeBron James himself and asked, ‘Hey, if wee draft Bronny James, will you come as well, LeBron?’ And as of right now, the response to that will be no, according to Charania. That isn’t guaranteed. That won’t happen in a predetermined manner.

Even as Bronny’s draft stock has increased, there has been a growing consensus recently. Although James has expressed in the past that he would love to play with his son, he currently has other priorities. That being said, there is still talk that other teams may try to sign Bronny in an effort to lure LeBron away.

In all likelihood, James will play one more season with the Lakers. Whether or not he plays with Bronny will probably rely on whether or not that team decides he’s a good fit and moves to add him.
