One Pittsburgh Steelers star is not intending to join the organization’s offseason exercises program amid contract difficulties with the team.

Cam Heyward has not taken part in the Steelers’ optional summer exercises this season. He also had no intention of attending the team’s organized team activities, per an ESPN article that was released on Wednesday.

Heyward signed a four-year, $65.6 million contract in 2020, and his last year salary is scheduled to be $22.4 million in 2024. He’s asking the team to extend his contract.

From 2017 to 2022, the 35-year-old defensive tackle was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls. However, he missed time last season due to a groin injury and only appeared in 11 games.

Last season, Heyward totaled 33 tackles and 2 sacks. Over the course of his 13-season career, he has amassed 80.5 sacks.
