Emerson Royal will be deemed surplus to requirements at Tottenham this summer and is already looking for a new club, sources have told Football Insider.
Royal is likely to fall victim to a “major” reshuffle as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad once the transfer window reopens.
The Brazilian international could be one of the first players to leave Spurs this summer following the Australian manager’s scathing comments surrounding the “rebuild” of his side.
The right-back, who is out of contract in June 2026, was the subject of interest from Saudi clubs in the January transfer window.
Emerson Royal will depart to rebuild Tottenham
The Tottenham team appears to be undergoing a lot of changes this summer as Postecoglou prepares for a big season.
Although he had a great start to his career in North London following his June 2023 transfer from Celtic, his performance has declined this year.
Spurs have now dropped their last four Premier League games and are seven points behind Aston Villa in fourth place.
After giving up 58 goals this season, the Australian will be dissatisfied with his team’s defensive performance and will likely try to offload some players in order to raise money for more defensive players.
Royal is probably one of those players because he hasn’t impressed lately when stepping in for the injured Destiny Udogie at left back.
The Brazilian might leave North London in a few weeks if he receives a decent offer, as he is falling behind in his natural position at right-back.
In other news, Tottenham confirmed a “restructure of number of departments” with the dismissal of a senior official.
