The German’s contract with Spurs will expire at the end of the current campaign. He is currently on loan from Bundesliga team RB Leipzig.
Although the 28-year-old is still eligible to join with Spurs permanently this summer, the report suggests that the team may have decided to look elsewhere for offensive reinforcements due to his recent decline in play.
The former Chelsea attacker has made 14 appearances for Tottenham since moving back to London in January, tallying two goals and dishing out three assists.
The report suggests that even though the Germany international hasn’t scored since the beginning of March, he might have done enough to be considered for a summer transfer to North London.
Following Harry Kane’s departure from Spurs last summer to join German powerhouse Bayern Munich, the team will likely be looking for a new striker this summer.
