If the Los Angeles Lakers decide to replace their current head coach, they’re likely to take an ESPN analyst into consideration.
Dave McMenamin, an ESPN reporter, was interviewed on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Thursday. Patrick questioned McMenamin about JJ Redick’s potential as a head coach candidate during his visit, speculating that the Lakers could fire Darvin Ham.
If they decide to start looking for a coach, JJ is undoubtedly a serious contender, according to McMenamin.
McMenamin did, however, state that he would anticipate the group to interview “several viable candidates.” McMenamin added that he thought Ty Lue, the head coach of the Clippers right now, might be a contender as well.
At the time this story was published, Ham was still the Lakers’ head coach. However, McMenamin stated that he thought the Lakers will alter their strategy.
For two seasons, Ham has served as the Lakers’ coach. Despite making it to the Western Conference finals the previous season, the squad was eliminated in the first round this year after losing in five games. Regarding Redick, he left the NBA following the 2021 campaign and is now an ESPN analyst. He recently had an interview for the Charlotte Hornets job and is reportedly a significant contender.
