Due to a neck injury, guard Terry Rozier of the Miami Heat will not play in Wednesday’s pivotal 2024 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament game against the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 PM ET on ESPN.
Rozier was unable to travel to Philadelphia for the game, but there is hope that he could be back for future games, possibly even the postseason first round.
The Heat were concerned going into this pivotal game since Rozier missed the last four games of the regular season due to an injury that was diagnosed as neck spasms.
This game determines the Heat’s postseason seeding; victory guarantees the Eastern Conference’s seventh seed and sets up a first-round matchup with the New York Knicks. If they lose, though, they would have to triumph on Friday in order to guarantee the No. 8 seed and a postseason berth.
The Heat will feel the effects of Rozier’s absence, especially given his influence since joining the team in the middle of the season. The 30-year-old guard, who was acquired from the Hornets on January 23, has played a major role for Miami this season, averaging 16.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in 31 games.
