Over the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitions of finishing in the top four were severely damaged.
At the close of the season, Ange Postecoglou’s team appeared to be the favorites to pass Aston Villa for fourth place, but a wild weekend in the Premier League has altered the situation.
Tottenham lost badly to Newcastle United on Saturday, falling down 4-0. Even worse, despite having played one more game, Aston Villa’s victory over Arsenal has put them three points ahead of Spurs.
Tottenham didn’t have the best weekend, and after their Saturday loss to Newcastle, one of their players received a lot of backlash.

Spurs, like a lot of other teams, have struggled with injuries this year.
Manor Solomon hasn’t played much for Spurs since joining the team in the summer, and James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have both been out.
Due to injuries, Richarlison has played less than 1400 minutes of football, making him another player who has struggled.

The Brazilian had surgery on his groin early in the season, and since then, he has missed two separate stints of time with a knee issue.
The last Premier League game Richarlison started was in the middle of February.
Timo Werner has now been used on the left wing by Ange Postecoglou, but despite a few moments of brilliance courtesy to his movement and pace, the German has been a very annoying player to watch.
On Saturday, Werner had two fantastic opportunities to score against Newcastle that would have altered the outcome of the match, but he missed both, which is starting to happen a lot with his performances.
Werner will be benched as soon as Richarlison rejoins the team, according to Jay Bothroyd, who called the German “one of the worst players in the Premier League.”
“I feel like, if Richarlison is back, Son will go to the left, he (Werner) will be out of the team,” he stated on The Optus Sport Football Podcast.
“And I believe they will improve in the future because you will have players you can work with and play link-up play with.”
