This season, Ange Postecoglou has had to deal with several player bans at Tottenham.
With the last minutes of the season, Ange Postecoglou will be crossing his fingers that he doesn’t have to play without any of his important Tottenham players.After Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with West Ham, the Lilywhites have already played 30 games of the 2023–24 Premier League season. They have eight games left in the schedule as they attempt to qualify for the Champions League.
As of right now, Tottenham is two points behind Aston Villa in fourth place and sits fifth in the table. The North London team does, however, still have a match against Chelsea left, and the outcome of that one could have a significant impact on the Premier League standings the final day.
In addition to being severely injured on several occasions since August, Postecoglou has also had to deal with several player suspensions.Yves Bissouma missed a significant amount of football because he was suspended for one game for receiving a red card at Luton Town, another for receiving five yellow cards in the team’s first 19 Premier League games, and a fourth for serving a four-match suspension after being sent off for the second time this season at Nottingham Forest.
Following his red card against Chelsea in November, Cristian Romero also missed three games. Destiny Udogie was also sent off in that encounter and missed one after collecting two yellow cards against the west London team.
The Italian left-back was subsequently suspended for five more games the following month after receiving five yellow cards prior to the 19-game cutoff point; Dejan Kulusevski was also suspended in the same manner.
It’s about time for another yellow card accumulation deadline.Any player who receives 10 bookings in his team’s first 32 Premier League games will be suspended for two games in the same competition, under Premier League regulations.

Fortunately for Postecoglou, after 32 Premier League games, no player from Tottenham can currently accumulate 10 yellow cards. With two games remaining until the team’s 32nd league encounter of the season, Bissouma leads the league in bookings at the moment, but he will not be able to accumulate the 10 yellow cards needed for a two-match suspension.
On Saturday, April 13, Spurs will play their 32nd league match of the year at St James’ Park against Newcastle United. Before traveling to the northeast, the Lilywhites will play Nottingham Forest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This season, Kulusevski and Pierre Matar Sarr are one behind Bissouma in the leaderboard for yellow cards, having each received six. Rodrigo Bentancur, Romero, and Udogie are next on five.
In the eight remaining games of the season, Postecoglou won’t have to worry about losing any of his players due to suspension unless they get red carded at some time.
