The Milan team’s flight to Florence for their Serie A encounter against Fiorentina on Saturday night went longer than expected since the plane they were riding in was redirected back to the airport before taking off again.
Early on Friday evening, the Rossoneri team took off from Milan Malpensa, but within minutes of takeoff, they had to land back on the runway.
TMW reports that plans were made to allow the Milan players and coaching staff to board a different flight. Since then, they have traveled to Tuscany, albeit belatedly.
Though it took Milan around three hours to get there on Friday night, the entire flight from Milan to Florence is expected to take about fifty minutes.
Milan is traveling to Florence with a nearly complete squad, although they will be without Theo Hernandez due to suspension and the injured trio of Tommaso Pobega, Pierre Kalulu, and Simon Kjaer against Fiorentina.
Along with the senior squad is a trio of teenagers: Jan-Carlo Simic, Davide Bartesaghi, and Kevin Zeroli.
On Saturday, 19.45 is when Fiorentina and Milan are expected to kick off.
