Tiger Woods has already spoken his opinion regarding Anthony Kim, the unexpected new signee of LIV Golf. Because the American gripped each of his clubs in a unique way, he claimed he had never seen anyone play like him.
During a Nike golf event back in 2008, Woods mentioned how effectively Anthony could manage his clubs. Back then, they were both huge Nike stars, but they eventually parted ways.
“He’s the only player I’ve ever seen that genuinely plays the full bag with a choked up technique. You do not hit the ball as far offline, but it does offer a great deal of control. That’s how you hit the ball very straight,” Tiger clarified.
The fact that so few other players made the same attempt to hold their clubs as Anthony also struck Tiger as odd. “It’s amazing that a lot of amateurs don’t try and do that,” he stated. Woods saw that several golfers believed that by holding their clubs too much like a baseball bat, the club would swing more quickly.
Anthony’s father taught him how to handle his clubs in the same manner that Tiger did. Anthony had to hold his dad’s clubs lower in order to improve his swing because they were too large and hefty.
Following a 12-year hiatus due to ailments, including surgery on his Achilles tendon, Anthony is set to resume his professional golf career. When he tried to compete in ten tournaments in 2012, he could only finish two. That was the last time he played.
Like many other players, the 38-year-old golfer has already said that Woods is his golfing hero. Kim, who attained the distinction of being the youngest American to win two championships in a single year, conveyed his respect for Woods and his impact on the game.
“Coming from Los Angeles, and with Tiger starting his career when I was considering becoming a golfer, he has had a huge impact on my life,” Kim stated.
