Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling described Leeds United’s fans as “unbelievable” at Elland Road during their thrilling Championship victory over Leicester City.
Thanks to goals from Connor Roberts, Patrick Bamford, and Wout Faes in the second half, Daniel Farke’s team won 3-1 on Friday, February 23, narrowing the distance with the Foxes atop the table to seven points.
Even though the Whites players received high marks from commentators for their performance, McCoist was quick to commend the Elland Road crowd for the amazing environment they produced on Friday night.
He made the following statement on talkSPORT on Monday, February 26, at 6:15 p.m.: “What a comeback that was against Leicester on Friday night.” That place was really getting down! I mean, it was unbelievable, wasn’t it? It’s incredible, the Elland Road fans are really blazing.
“They’d been played off the park for the entire game, but equally, you knew if Leeds scored they would go on and win,” Stelling swiftly concurred. Because of the incredible fans who exist there. The old cliché, “They suck the ball in,” applies here.
Will Elland Road help Leeds United win the Championship?
The football schedule includes games that, in some cases, seem to define a season or prove to be pivotal in a campaign. Leeds United’s victory over Leicester on Friday night may be one of such games.
Elland Road was packed, and the supporters were a major factor in the Whites’ victory because they created a positive environment for the players to work in, particularly after Roberts’ spectacular goal leveled the score.
It is extremely difficult for opposition teams to win at Elland Road when Leeds’ home field is like that, and this has been the situation both this season and under Farke’s leadership. At home, the Whites are not usually defeated in games.
If Farke’s team can maintain this pattern through the conclusion of the season, Leeds may have enough players on their roster to beat Leicester to the title and automatic promotion this year.
