Odilon Kossounou, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen, is being watched by both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in anticipation of a summer transfer to the Premier League.
With so many excellent choices for center backs, Bayer Leverkusen’s defense has served as the cornerstone for Xabi Alonso’s development of a club that is now vying for the Bundesliga title this year.
From Edmond Tapsoba, Piero Hincapie, Jonathan Tah, and now Odilon Kossounou, Leverkusen are spoiled for choice in the centre of defence, but other clubs are sniffing around all four players.
Tottenham have consistently been linked with all of the above names over the course of the last 12 months.
Even with Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero at their disposal, it appears the Lilywhites are still searching for a central defender. And Kossounou might be that man, per the most recent SportBILD story (via Sport Witness).
It appears that Manchester United and other Premier League opponents will compete with Spurs for the Ivorian’s signature this summer. Both teams are rumored to be “watching” Kossounou lately.
The towering center-half, who joined Leverkusen in 2021 and was first referred to as a “average player,” has since grown into a “top defender” and is expected to be in high demand this summer.
Any deal is thought to cost “at least €50m” (£42.8m), and Leverkusen is eager to stress that they have no intention of selling.

Of all the Leverkusen defenders, Kossouou would likely be my fourth pick, but he is still a fantastic player who would excel at Spurs. Even if he is currently the target of others, I wouldn’t be shocked if this rumor persisted.
