Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to complete a deal for Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa ‘as soon as possible’.
The 18-year-old’s transfer to Tottenham is the team’s “big focus in the coming days,” according to transfer specialist Fabricio Romano, who exclusively shared this information with GIVEMESPORTS.
Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham, has identified Nusa as a “special talent,” and the Spurs administration is keen to come to a speedy transfer arrangement.
Romano reports that Tottenham and the Belgian Pro League team are in talks over the possibility of acquiring the Norwegian international before the transfer season ends. They do not, however, intend to make a formal bid submission until they are certain that the discussions will be satisfactorily concluded.
He goes on to discuss Tottenham’s desire to acquire Nusa’s skills since they believe he has a bright future. Spurs are working harder now because they are worried that other teams may enter the race and outbid them.
The Italian journalist highlights the teenager’s importance to Postecoglou in the last hours of the transfer window by indicating that Tottenham and Club Brugge would have more conversations in the near future.
They think Antonio Nusa will be a unique player, which is why they strongly want him. Spurs are pressing for him because he is a unique skill at a position where they need someone for the near and long term,” Romano added.
“They also want to move quickly to seal the deal since they are aware that other teams, particularly in England, are interested in Antonio Nusa.
“Tottenham will make fresh contact with Club Brugge in the coming days regarding Nusa.” This, I believe, will be their main priority in the next days.
On for the future
Club Brugge is taking a strong stand in the discussions because Nusa isn’t ready to take on a new project just now. Postecoglou has three and a half years remaining on his contract, so finding a third signing before February 1 arrives becomes more difficult.
The Athletic has reported that Brugge is requesting a payment for Nusa that is in the neighborhood of £26 million. They hope Spurs will grant the young player permission to finish the season with the team.
Tottenham is acquiring skilled young players in an effort to prepare for the future. Right now, the team is concentrating on signing Nusa from Club Brugge, a player who is attracting a lot of interest around Europe.
While the left-wing position is currently held by club captain Son Heung-Min, Nusa presents an excellent opportunity to serve as an understudy, potentially stepping into the role in the future.
