Eric Dier, a Tottenham defender, and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement, sources told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old Spurs player, who has fallen out of favor, is getting close to making a spectacular transfer to the German powerhouses, where he will rejoin White Hart Lane icon and former teammate Harry Kane.
Dier is rumored to have made up his mind to go with Bayern in a move that is fully supported by Kane, and it will happen if and when Tottenham completes the signing of a new defender.
With Dier’s contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, the Ottawa Senators are glad to let him go.
They won’t, however, approve his transfer to the Bundesliga winners unless they have a backup on the defensive line.
After fresh negotiations, it was disclosed on January 4th that Ange Postecoglou’s team is certain they will sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin this month.
The highly regarded Romanian international, who is eager to join the Premier League, has had lengthy talks with them.
On November 13th, Football Insider first reported that Bayern was preparing an unexpected January transfer for Dier.
A personal terms agreement has now been reached, and the player will soon conclude an illustrious tenure with Tottenham.
Additionally, sources told Football Insider (December 27) that Hugo Lloris, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Dier were all given the go-ahead to leave the team this winter.
Despite Spurs’ terrible injury crisis, Dier has seen just 198 minutes of football this season and has fallen much out of favor in north London.
Extended Absenteeism Ivan Perisic, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven are still not available for selection.
Postecoglou has played full-backs out of position this season instead of the Englishman, despite his lack of options.
After defeating Bournemouth 3-1 on New Year’s Day, Tottenham is now fifth in the Premier League standings. They will next play Burnley in the FA Cup.
